‘Brad’ is a painted portrait on a hand-made clay plate that you can use as a plant saucer, somewhere to keep your keys or loose coins, a coaster (perfect for a bottle of wine), a wall-mounted piece of art or a starter dish to bring even more colour to your asparagus and hollandaise sauce!
MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST ...
Coming out of the pandemic, Ed became increasingly interested in ceramics and took up pottery sessions at the Deal Adult Education Centre in Kent to experiment with throwing, slab-building, coiling, pinching and all the other wonderful ways of manipulating clay. He’s still learning bucketloads and continues to be totally obsessed with what is essentially, mud!
The thing Ed hadn’t anticipated is how great pottery makes a person feel! Hours can go by in a blink of an eye and after a session you always feel so energised, carefree, and upbeat.
Some days Ed comes prepared with drawings, measurements and reference pictures for inspiration. Other days, there’s no plan: he starts with a lump of clay and a vague idea, then lets his imagination take over and before he knows it, he’s glazing at this unexpected object about to be put into a the kiln. Hot stuff!
These pieces are slightly quirky, slightly wonky and no two are alike. So if one of them grabs your fancy, bag it quick-sticks before it’s gone!
